Cycling for Seniors

An open letter to all past, current, and prospective senior program participants
(This letter is being mailed to all 2015 and 2016 participants)

Dear Seniors:

Since 2009, All Out Adventures has been very proud to offer cycling and snowshoeing for seniors.  These programs have been generously funded by the Tufts Health Plan Foundation as a part of their “Vibrant Lifestyles” initiative to help seniors continue to lead active, healthy, and socially engaged lives.

Senior on Cycle

These programs have been deeply meaningful to us at All Out Adventures, and all of our staff have so enjoyed the opportunity to work with you.  Unfortunately, moving forward, the Tufts Health Plan Foundation will no longer be funding these programs.

We will continue to seek a new source of funding to offer as many programs as we can.  For this summer, we will continue to offer senior cycling by moving it to Tuesday mornings and scheduling it before other regularly scheduled and funded programs.  This means that this spring and summer the programs will run from 9:30am – 12:30pm and will rotate between the Norwottuck Rail Trail in Hadley and Look Park in Leeds.

Here is the schedule:

Because we do not currently have funding to offer senior cycling, we are going to work hard this spring to raise the funds we need to pay for it.  It will cost us $7,000 to offer the program every Tuesday morning from Mid-May through Mid-October.

The most significant way that you can help us is to join us in our fundraising efforts for Valley Gives Day on May 3, 2016.  Generous anonymous donors have put together a $5,000 matching grant for the event; every dollar that we raise on May 3rd (up to $5,000) will be matched.  We will also be eligible for significant fundraising prizes through the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts for our participation in Valley Gives Day.  We will put this information on our website in the next couple of weeks and will also mail you a postcard in mid April with more information.

In the meantime, we look forward to continuing to offer seniors in the Pioneer Valley the safe, high quality outdoor recreation programs that you have come to expect from us.  Please feel free to call me (413.584.2052) or email me ( with any questions that you have.
